A teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School in Burbank was in custody Tuesday for allegedly having sex with one of her male students over a period of several months, police said.

Amy Beck, 33, walked into the Burbank police station and turned hersef in on Monday afternoon, accompanied by her lawyer. She was charged Tuesday on four counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16 and one count of oral copulation with a person under 16. Investigators allege Beck, a teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School, was having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old male student from March to September 2009. The unidentified boy was 15 when the alleged affair ended.

She was apparently overcome by guilt, Burbank police officials said ... Prosecutors charged the middle school teacher Tuesday afternoon with five counts, including four counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16 and one count of oral copulation with a person under 16. If convicted on all counts, she faces up a maximum sentence of up to seven years in state prison.
