    A Pocatello teacher charged with felony driving under the influence will be reassigned to a different school during the upcoming school year. KPVI reports that Amy Smith, who struck a school crossing guard with her car in May, will be moved from Edahow to Tyhee Elementary ... Smith says her crash was the result of medication she’d been taking.

    Teacher Charged with DUI Suspended

    A Pocatello teacher has been suspended indefinitely for a controversial DUI arrest last May. Amy Smith was charged with a felony for the crash, which injured a crossing guard at Edahow Elementary School. Smith had multiple previous DUI convictions, but her attorney maintains that the latest incident was the result of prescription drugs.

    Pocatello teacher accused of DUI prepares for trial

    The Pocatello elementary teacher accused of a felony DUI was back in court Monday. The defense and prosecution filed a number of motions trying to exclude evidence and witnesses for the upcoming trial. Amy Smith was charged in May after an incident at Edahow Elementary School. Smith's defense attorney, Rusty Hansen, told Sixth District Court Judge David Nye the state didn't honor his discovery request since none of his questions were answered. He also claims the state didn't follow the rule of discovery. Lead prosecutor Ashley Graham contested the state gave everything they needed and followed the rule of discovery ...
