She told investigators that she lived in the guest room of Feenstra's home for awhile during their relationship, despite Feenstra living with her husband. After the student graduated, she told another Humble High School teacher about the alleged relationship. The teen then stated that she did not have any other choice but to tell another teacher. The 17-year-old also told police that the reason that she waited so long to tell someone of the relationship between she and Feenstra, was due to embarrassment.

Mrs. Feenstra has studied many styles of dance, including ballet, jazz, modern, cheer dance, and ballroom. Mrs. Feenstra is a former member of the National Champion FBISD Austin Angels Dance Team where she held officer positions for two consecutive years and had the opportunity to perform at Epcot Center, Sea World, and the Governor's Inaugural Parade. Mrs. Feenstra continued dancing throughout college, attending the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston. At the University of Houston, Mrs. Feenstra was a member of University Dance Theatre and the modern dance company, Central Repertory Dancers, Directed by Deborah Quanaim. During college Mrs. Feenstra was honored with an invitation to participate in the Houston Limon Project where she trained and performed with the world-re-known Jose Limon Dance Company. She graduated Magna (expletive deleted) Laude from the University of Houston in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science. After graduating college, Mrs. Feenstra continued her dance career as a performer, choreographer, and teacher. As a dancer she has had the opportunity to perform at many prestigious locations in and out of Texas. Mrs. Feenstra continues to dance professionally and was recently featured as a guest artist and choreographer with Sandra Organ / Earthen Vessels Dance Co., as well as, the 2011 Big Range Dance Festival. A member of the Texas Dance Educator's Association, Mrs. Feenstra has been teaching dance for 9 years and is certified to teach dance, PE, and health. Before becoming the Dance Director at Dayton High School Mrs. Feenstra was the Director of the Wildcatdet Dance Team at Humble High School. Under her direction the team won numerous first place trophies and choreography awards and her soloists have won top honors, including the 2011 title of Miss Dance Drill Team Texas. Houston Chronicle: Humble grad's federal lawsuit claims coach made her a 'sexual toy' (Dec 6 2013) A former dance coach at Humble High School who pleaded guilty to an improper relationship with a student has been sued in federal court, along with other school officials, by the girl and her mother. The woman and her daughter, A.W., filed the suit Dec. 4 in U.S. District Court in Houston, alleging that the girl was sexually abused repeatedly and is likely emotionally scarred for life....In March 2009, the school began a search for a new lead dance instructor, with Feenstra among the potential hires. During the search, while Feenstra was watching video of A.W. performing, school officials noticed her "unusual and bizarre admiration of certain of A.W.'s physical features," the complaint states. As soon as Feenstra took over the dance team, she told A.W., then age 16, that she had to spend most of her after-school time with Feenstra. "This was the beginning of the maniupulation and isolation that Feenstra used to gain A.W.'s trust and confidence," the complaint states.Feenstra managed to convince the mother to allow the girl to visit her routinely at home and later began picking up the girl from home to take her to and from school, dance practice and competitions, the suit states. Eventually, Feenstra convinced the girl to move into her house with her and her husband, with the mother's reluctant agreement, according to court documents. Not long after that, "Feenstra began her sadistic plan of turning A.W. into Feenstra's sexual toy," the complaint states. The girl stayed in the guest bedroom, where Feenstra would have sex with A.W. at will when her husband was out of town, the suit states. On many occasions, the complaint alleges, Feenstra insisted that the girl have sex with her at school, including in Feenstra's office and on the dance room floor. Other students and parents repeatedly complained about the unusual relationship, but school officials did nothing to investigate it or stop it, despite the "inordinately excessive" amount of time the girl spent in the coach's office with the door closed, the suit states. School officials knew the girl had moved into Feenstra's home but did nothing to investigate, the suit alleges. After graduating, A.W. initially thought she had escaped Feenstra's control but the coach continued to call, text and stalk her, the complaint alleges. Eventually, the girl spoke to another former dance instructor, who reported the matter. Feenstra was arrested in March.

The Observer: Humble family files federal lawsuit against Humble ISD (Mar 13 2014) According to a criminal complaint filed in the 176th District Court March 5, 2013; Amanda Feenstra, of Atascocita, was accused of “deviate sexual intercourse” with a female student who has since graduated from the school....According to the information provided in the federal lawsuit, Humble High School decided to conduct a search for a new lead dance instructor to replace the previous head dance instructor around March 2009. “Although some school officials argued against Feenstra’s selection as the new dance instructor, since they did not have a good feeling about her, Feenstra was eventually chosen as the new dance instructor by the principal, assistant principals and others involved in the selection process,” the court documents read. “Shortly after she was hired, Feenstra quickly began to schedule various meetings with the victim allegedly in order to begin developing routines to get the Humble High’s Wildcatdets dance team in line with Feenstra’s plans for the team.”Feenstra then started to convince the victim and the victim’s mother that they needed more after-school time to work on routines to help the victim become a better dancer. She then continued to convince the victim’s mother that the victim needed to visit Feenstra at her home under the pretense that they were developing and practicing various dance routines for the team. Court records indicate Feenstra allegedly kissed the student in her vehicle once, and the student admitted to kissing the teacher back. One night, the student reportedly spent the night in the teacher’s guest bedroom and eventually moved in with Feenstra and her husband. Investigators say the student described several specific incidents in which the teacher and student allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse, including once in the dance office at Humble High School as well as during a training camp. Other incidents reportedly occurred while Feenstra’s husband was not at home....According to the federal court documents, “During the period of Feenstra’s inappropriate relationship with the victim, school officials noticed the victim became withdrawn, that she would leave the school grounds alone with the victim and repeatedly observed first-hand that the victim was spending an inordinately excessive amount of time in Feenstra’s office with the doors closed but did nothing to investigate or stop Feenstra’s relationship or interaction with the victim.”The student reportedly told Humble ISD investigators she didn’t report the teacher’s actions sooner out of embarrassment and feeling trapped, hoping that upon graduation the relationship would end. The victim ultimately confided in another teacher who then reported the incident to school authorities.
