AZ Family: Scottsdale teacher's aide arrested on child porn charges (Mar 5 2014) Police said that about 6:30 a.m., detectives from the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant at Alvin Ray McClellan's Scottsdale apartment near Hayden Road and McDonald Drive. They reportedly found numerous child pornography items, including photos and videos. Police said the 44-year-old man was arrested at his apartment when the search warrant was served. According to court paperwork, investigators discovered hundreds of "still images and video depicting the sexual exploitation of minors" on an external hard drive. "The images captured minors in sexual positions or sexual acts," read the probable cause statement. "The videos and the images depict children 1-12 years old."

The court paperwork does not list any earlier arrests or convictions for McClellan. The Scottsdale Unified School District is saying little about this case only that it is cooperating with Phoenix Police ... Police say they got information he was trading child porn on the internet. Authorities got a warrant and searched his home with the help of the FBI. Inside they found a computer hard drive with graphic photos and videos. One of the videos showed sexual acts in which children between the ages of one and twelve were violated ... The court paperwork also said police discovered a letter from a child that McClellan knew. In that note the child described sexual abuse by McClellan.

Thursday, Alvin McClellan, a special education teacher's assistant at Mohave Middle School, was arrested after an investigation found hundreds of pictures of videos of child pornography at his home. ...But no such record exists in the case of McClellan. "The school district did not submit, and the DPS did not receive an application request or a background request for that individual," said DPS spokesperson Raul Garcia. Two days after CBS 5 News requested information on McClellan's background history, a spokesperson for Scottsdale Unified School District released a copy of McClellan's background check. However, it was performed by an outside company, not by the Department of Public Safety ... CBS 5 News called and emailed a spokesperson for the district asking why a background check was never submitted to DPS. The district did not respond.
