Child abuse charge against Montgomery police officer to go to grand jury

A judge has ruled there is sufficient evidence presented against a Montgomery police officer who is facing child abuse charges to send the case to a grand jury. Horton Owens, 36, was charged with child abuse in March after his superiors became aware of the allegation against him. He was placed on administrative leave and relieved of duty. Friday, Owens appeared in court for a preliminary hearing during which photographs of the victim's injuries were shown to Judge Tiffany McCord.
