I think he was a nice and respectable coach, I've never seen or experience him doing anything out of line with me or any of the other athletes. He is a very strict and nice coach. I refuse to believe that he would let the team down like this.

Mr. McConney engaged in flirtatious activity with many players over the years. This is from personal observation. He is a teacher/coach and the charge is official misconduct, not sexual assault (as the young lady was 18 and presumably consented). He is a public servant and was entrusted with students and athletes and should have used better judgement than to sleep with one of them.

Daily Record: Piscataway High School coach accused of sexual relationship with 18-year-old student: Bail set at $50,000 (Apr 17 2013)

Longtime Piscataway High School girls soccer coach Adrian McConney, 36, who also teaches physical education at the school, was arrested at his home Friday and charged with second-degree official misconduct, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. The age of consent in New Jersey is 16, but that range extends to 18 when a suspect holds a supervisory position over an alleged victim, according to state law. The student in this case was 18 when the alleged sexual relationship began, Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Jim O’Neill said Tuesday, explaining why McConney avoided being charged with sexual assault.
