Judge Neal Nielsen accepted his guilty pleas and set the case for sentencing on January 2, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. Eight additional counts of child pornography were dismissed as part of the plea but will be considered at sentencing along with numerous other uncharged counts. Wang is a former middle school math teacher for the Northland Pines School District. Investigators believe one of the people with whom he had regular sexual chats, often times in his classroom at the school, was a 13 to 14 year- old girl from another state. Monitoring software installed on the school computers alerted school officials to the inappropriate chatting. While investigating the sex chats, school officials discovered two digital flash drives in a filing cabinet in Wang’s classroom. Those two flash drives were found to contain more than 100 pictures and videos of child pornography. Some of the pictures and videos depicted children as young as 4 to 5 years-old engaged in sexual acts with adults. Wang also had regular family photographs on one of the same flash drives. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment, a $100,000 fine, and a mandatory $500 child pornography surcharge. The State is represented by Assistant Attorney General David Maas, acting as special prosecutor for Vilas County.
