    Lonnie Lee Vann (Jacksboro, Tennessee), 43, teacher at LaFollette Middle School, Campbell County Schools, LaFollette, Tennessee, "charged with Solicitation of a Minor, Tampering with Evidence, and Assault", later "robbed a couple ... at gunpoint", and eventually "murder and kidnapping charges in the death of a 49-year-old woman"

    TBI: Campbell Co. teacher took girl off campus, tried to kiss her

    According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), Lonnie Vann, 43, is charged with Solicitation of a Minor, Tampering with Evidence, and Assault. He turned himself into the Campbell County jail on Monday and was released on a $10,000 bond.

    Vann was teaching at LaFollette Middle School in October 2013 when investigators learned that left campus with the 13-year-old female student. He took her to a church five miles away, where investigators said Vann hugged the teen and attempted to kiss her without consent. Authorities also learned that Vann tampered with the security camera at the church in at attempt to conceal his actions.

    Campbell County Middle School Teacher Charged With Inappropriate Contact With Student

    At the request of 8th District Attorney General Lori Phillips-Jones, TBI Special Agents, along with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, began investigating Lonnie Vann last Nov. 4. During the course of the investigation, agents said they developed information that on Oct. 22, 2013, while working as a teacher at LaFollette Middle School, Vann took a 13-year-old student off school property to Coolidge First Baptist Church. While in the church building, Vann hugged the juvenile and attempted to kiss her, both without consent, it was charged. Investigators further developed information that Vann tampered with evidence in the case by altering images on a recording device at the church, agents said.

    TBI adds former Campbell Co. teacher to Top 10 Most Wanted List

    44-year-old Jacksboro man and former Campbell County teacher Lonnie Vann is now on the run after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Campbell County Sheriff's Office say he robbed a couple Friday afternoon at gunpoint. The incident prompted the TBI to add Vann to the state's Top Ten Most Wanted list.

    The couple officials say Vann robbed at gunpoint Friday is Jim and Dian Fields, owners of Deerfield Golf Course in Campbell County, near LaFollette. The Fields spoke with WBIR Friday evening. Vann is their former employee, the Fields said. He worked at their golf course as a parttime seasonal employee for two consecutive summers about four years ago.

    Former Campbell County teacher wanted on robbery charges arrested in South Carolina

    An East Tennessee man on the TBI's Most Wanted list has been captured in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Lonnie Vann was wanted out of Campbell County in connection with a home invasion that happened the Deerfield community of LaFollette on December 5. TBI Special Agents developed leads that Vann was in South Carolina. Around 7:30 p.m. Friday, Myrtle Beach Police spotted the white Chevy Captiva that Vann was driving. He was taken into custody without incident following a traffic stop.

    Ex-Tenn. teacher pleads not guilty in woman's slaying

    An East Tennessee man has pleaded not guilty to murder and kidnapping charges in the death of a 49-year-old woman. CBS affiliate WVLT reports Lonnie Lee Vann of Jacksboro appeared in court Monday to answer charges in the death of Rhonda Daugherty of Campbell County, who disappeared from her home on Dec. 2 and remains missing.

    Vann was extradited to Tennessee late Friday after being arrested in South Carolina last month on robbery charges. He was charged in an indictment Wednesday with first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with Daughtery's disappearance. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation hasn't said what links Vann to Daugherty death.

    Ex-teacher charged with murder, kidnapping pleads not guilty

    A former Tennessee teacher, accused of murdering and kidnapping a LaFollette woman, pleaded not guilty in court Monday morning. Lonnie Lee Vann, 44, of Jacksboro was extradited late Friday from Myrtle Beach, S.C., where officials said he fled last month after killing 49-year-old Rhonda Daugherty. Authorities haven't supplied information as to why Vann is linked to Daugherty's presumed death.
