One additional charge: "allowing an unlicensed person to drive her car"

Winston Salem Journal: Police: Accuser was in teacher's special education class (Jan 9 2013)

The teenage boy that a Myers Park High School teacher is accused of having sex with was a student in her special education class, according to a police source familiar with the investigation. The student, listed as 17 years old on a police report, told police that he and Myers Park exceptional children teacher Kristina Ngum, 43, had sexual intercourse at an off-campus location, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

    ...

A patrol officer pulled Ngum’s car over Friday because the officer noticed the male student was driving the car, according to a police report and the police source close to the investigation. Police are familiar with the student, the source said, and knew he didn’t have a driver’s license. When the student was questioned afterward, he told police he’d had sex with Ngum, the source said. Police also discovered text messages that support the student’s claim, according to the source. Court documents show that police cited Ngum with allowing an unlicensed person to drive her car.

CMS does criminal background checks and Morrison said some things, like minor traffic violations, do not immediately disqualify candidates. [Kristina] Ngum was hired in March 2012. Court records show she pleaded guilty in February 2012 to larceny under $50. She was also charged with felony obtaining property under false pretenses, which was dismissed in September of 2011.
