    David Jones, 56, was charged by Miami Beach police Thursday with "interference with custody," a third-degree felony in Florida that makes it a crime for someone to take or entice "any minor or any incompetent person" from custody of parents, guardians, or a public agency in charge of the child's care.

    David Jones, 56, of Cranston has been charged with interference with custody, a felony in Florida ... The 15-year-old victim was, according to police reports, reported missing in Rhode Island ... The Jones and the minor were located by police in Miami Beach, and Jones subsequently admitted to police that he was having an inappropriate relationship with the minor that involved the exchange of sexually explicit text messages. Jones also admitted to thinking about the minor in a sexual way. The 15-year-old admitted to police that his parents did not give their consent for him to join Jones in Miami, and also said that Jones wanted to have a sexual relationship with him.

    From the "You-Must-Be-Just-About-To-Retire-Why-Are-You-Blowing-It-Now" Department, David Jones was a very long-term teacher in the Providence school system. Their 2012 Teacher Seniority List ranks him 113 out of almost 1900 teachers.

    I'm still trying to ascertain what grade level he taught and where.
