SHELBY- Almost a year ago, the former sixth-grade science teacher at Burns Middle School was arrested on multiple charges after authorities said she shared inappropriate videos and photographs with students.

Now, Caron Elizabeth Blanton, 35, formerly of Belaire Road, Mooresboro, took a plea deal from the Cleveland County District Attorney’s office and plead guilty of felony indecent liberties with a child. She will serve 20 days in jail.
Along with her 20 days in jail, Blanton must register as a sex offender for the next 30 years, she will have no contact with her victims and she cannot own a phone with camera or video capability. The duration of the ban on the phone is unknown at this time. Her sentence time was 13 to 16 months, but she only has to serve 20 days of that. She will be on probabtion for 30 months.
