    Former Teacher Accused of Past Sex Abuse Could Regain Local NAACP’s Top Spot

    A local organization forced its president out of office after several allegations of sexual abuse of high school girls. Now, the local group’s national leadership is calling for a special election that could put that ousted president back in office. Beulah Nash-Teachey told members of the Augusta Branch of the NAACP that a special election would be held in two weeks for officers. That election creates an opening for Charles Smith to run for office, citing any-one who renewed his or her membership as of October 24, 2014 may be nominated.
