    Thousands of Americans are pulled over in traffic stops each day, according to police data. Experts point to racial disparities and officers' use of force, in Maricopa County and nationally, as reasons for reform. In 2018, U.S. Department of Justice surveyed police agencies about contact with the public in the prior 12 months. The most common reason for a member of the public to come in contact with the police is a traffic stop.
