    Former Hampton police officer admits giving confidential informant’s name to drug conspirator


    A former Hampton police detective admitted on Wednesday that he revealed a confidential informant’s identity to a key target of a federal drug dealing investigation two years ago. DeAngelo Freeman, 31, of Hampton, was charged in late 2017 with attempted witness tampering after prosecutors said he gave conspirators the name of a man cooperating with the FBI in an investigation into a cocaine dealing ring centered at a fitness center at the Peninsula Town Center.
