    Castroville police chief resigns while on admin leave for N-word accusations

    The Castroville police chief has resigned from his position after being placed on administrative leave. Chief Brian Jackson was placed on administrative leave on February 22 following accusations of using the N-word during a murder investigation. On Tuesday, March 8, council members unanimously accepted Jackson's resignation, the Express News reports. An investigation into Jackson's use of the racial slur was ongoing at the time of his resignation. Officer Freddy Waggoner was selected to serve as the interim police chief when Jackson was placed on administrative leave.
