    McIntosh County high principal, school superintendent and assistant charged with failure to report child abuse, GBI says

    McIntosh Academy Principal Terrance Haywood, County School Superintendent Tina Kirby and Assistant Superintendent Larry Day were arrested Wednesday on charges of failing to report child abuse, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said ... Kirby is also charged with obstruction of law enforcement and Haywood is also charged with making false statements to state officials. All the charges are misdemeanors except the accusation of making a false statement, McDaniel said.

    3 school admins charged in relation to child molestation case

    The school board heard a motion to suspend the three school administrators, but that motion failed to get a second which would have sent the matter to a vote. The three administrators are still on the job. According to The Darien News, McIntosh County Academy Principal Terrance Haywood is facing a felony charge of providing false verbal and written statements to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and a misdemeanor charge of failure to report child abuse. McIntosh County Schools Superintendent Tina Kirby is facing misdemeanor charges of failure to report suspected child abuse and obstruction or hindering a law enforcement officer. Assistant Superintendent of Facilities Larry Day is facing a misdemeanor charge of failure to report suspected child abuse.

    McIntosh County School Officials Charged with Various Crimes

    The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office requested their assistance with arresting three McIntosh County School Officials. The GBI says arrest warrants were issued for Superintendent Ernestine "Tina" Kirby for one count of Failure to Report Child Abuse and one count of Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer; Assistant Superintendent Larry Day for one count of Failure to report Child Abuse; and Principal Terrance Haywood for one count of Failure to Report Child Abuse and one count of False Statements.

    3 McIntosh Co. educators arrested in teacher

    The principal of McIntosh County Academy, along with the superintendent and assistant superintendent of schools failed to report sexual abuse of a student by high teacher Lori Quigley, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Quigley was arrested last month on three counts of sexual assault by a person in supervisory or discipline authority. Principal Terrance Haywood was arrested Wednesday morning on school grounds, according to Maj. Danny Lowe with the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office. Haywood is accused of failing to report suspected child abuse to the Department of Child and Family Services, a misdemeanor. He is also charged with providing false verbal and written statements to the GBI, a felony.

    Emergency school board meeting called after arrests of district leaders

    Action News has learned an emergency school board meeting has been called in McIntosh County following the arrests of several school and district leaders as part of a child sex abuse investigation. Deputies arrested the McIntosh County School Superintendent, the assistant superintendent, and the principal of McIntosh Academy on Wednesday. The three are accused of failing to report the sexual abuse of a student by a teacher.

    McIntosh County school officials charged with failure to report child abuse will remain on jobs

    Three McIntosh County school administrators arrested Wednesday on charges of failing to report child abuse will remain on the job after the school board declined to take up its chairwoman’s motion to suspend them. McIntosh School Superintendent Tina Kirby, Assistant Superintendent Larry Day and McIntosh Academy Principal Terrance Haywood were all arrested on the misdemeanor charges Wednesday after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation secured warrants. Haywood, who was arrested at the school, is also charged with a felony count of making a false statement to police while Kirby also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of a police officer.

    Arrested McIntosh County schools officials to keep their jobs

    The McIntosh County school board just wrapped up their meeting. WTOC has just learned that all three school administrators arrested Wednesday on charges of failing to report child abuse will remain in their jobs. A motion to suspend the superintendent, assistant superintendent and the principal of McIntosh Academy was not seconded by anyone on the board. This comes after the superintendent; assistant superintendent and high school principal were arrested on charges of failing to report child abuse. Investigators say a high school teacher was having sex with at least two students. They said all three school administrators bonded out of jail Wednesday.

    3 McIntosh County school officials indicted in case where teacher had sex with 3 students

    A McIntosh County grand jury has indicted the county school superintendent, one of her assistants and the McIntosh Academy high school principal on misdemeanor charges of failure to report child abuse. The indictments returned late Tuesday in open court also charge Superintendent Tina Kirby with obstructing an officer and McIntosh Academy Principal Terrance Haywood with making a false statement to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agent, the only felony among the charges. Assistant Superintendent Larry Day is charged only with failure to report child abuse.
