[Michael] Allen was actually suspended a month ago for having too close of a relationship with the alleged victim. They were seen walking together through University Place neighborhoods. Then, on Tuesday at Curtis High School, the 17-year-old girl reportedly told detectives they actually had sex on several occasions at her home.​

Allen is still on paid leave, but the superintendent said there's enough evidence to fire him right now even before trial just based on his "too close" personal relationship with the student. Banks said he's already violated the teacher guidelines that he signed.​

Probable cause papers state the girl became a teacher aide for Allen and got his number from another student. “She called and texted [Allen] which progressed into them running and walking together. They spent a lot of time together and kissed and touched each other. This usually happened at her house outside in a carport,” according to the court papers ... The court papers state the two exchanged thousands of text messages (before and after he was placed on paid leave) and allegedly had sex three times after Allen was placed on paid leave.​

According to charging documents, a 17-year-old student became a teacher’s aide for Allen and got his phone number from another student. She called and texted Allen. They began to run and walk together, then spent more time together. During that time they began sexual contact, usually at her house. Allen was put on paid administrative leave on Jan. 17 after another student and her mother reported concerns to the school, which told a sheriff’s deputy. The two were told not to have contact, but they continued to see each other and had sex three times, according to charging documents. The 17-year-old knew Allen’s wife had kicked him out of their house, according to charging documents.​

On Tuesday, the school requested the girl’s phone records, which showed thousands of messages between her and Allen after he was placed on administrative leave. He was arrested later that day.​

 

News-Tribune: Curtis High teacher pleads not guilty on sex charges (Feb 12 2014)

A 33-year-old Curtis High School biology teacher accused of sexual misconduct with a student pleaded not guilty Wednesday to criminal charges in Pierce County Superior Court. Michael Edison Allen, who has taught at the high school in University Place since 2009, was released from custody on $25,000 bail.​

Allen, who was born in Puyallup and attended high school there, was released from custody Wednesday to live with his mother and stepfather in Tacoma. He was ordered to have no contact with the girl involved in the allegations. He was also ordered to have no contact with other minors, apart from his own children.​
