    Mary Gilles, Catholic teacher fired after getting pregnant with student’s baby.

    An assistant principal at Pacelli was the first to discover the student was having a sexual relationship with his teacher according to the Star Tribune.     Fired teacher may be pregnant with teen's child

    Mary Gilles, 28, faces six counts of sexual misconduct after admitting to detectives that she began having sex with the teen in February, reports KIMT-TV. Acting on a tip from a school staffer, an administrator at Pacelli High School in Austin looked in the personal email account of the student (she learned his password after first probing his school email account for information, but it's not clear exactly how she found it) and found racy messages between the two, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The last few messages referred to Gilles "possibly being pregnant," says the criminal complaint. Both she and the student acknowledged the relationship upon questioning.     Fired Catholic school teacher may be pregnant with student’s baby

    Mary F. Gilles, 28, a recently terminated math teacher at Pacelli High School, a Catholic high school in Austin, Minnesota, is accused of having a sexual relationship with one of her 17-year-old students. And now felony charges state that Gilles may be carrying the teen student’s baby, according to an Oct. 10 report from USA Today.


    The charges against her were levied in consideration of the student’s age and the fact that Gilles is more than four years older than her teen lover. She has been charged with six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Gilles admitted to police that she’d been having sex with the student since February.

    A school administrator later managed to access the teen’s personal e-mail “and found racy messages between the two.” The most recent e-mails from Gilles had her writing to the student that she could possibly be pregnant, according to the criminal complaint against her.    ​

    Pacelli fires Holtorf, Hamburge

    Hennessy confirmed Wednesday that the two [Pacelli President Jim Hamburge and Principal Mary Holtorf] were officially fired. Hennessy previously said Hamburge and Holtorf’s leaves had nothing to do with Mary Gilles — a 28-year-old former math teacher at Pacelli High School who was arrested the same day as the administrators were placed on leave — allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old student. When asked again, Hennessy said he could not comment further on the situation.​

    Laura Marreel and Shawn Kennedy, both former assistant principals at Pacelli, have been serving as interim principals and will continue those roles through the end of the school year.​

    [Don't forget that Laura Marreel committed one or more criminal acts in the course of her "investigation" -- using a pilfered password to break into the student's Yahoo email account wasn't legal by any stretch of the imagination.]

    Austin Pacelli Catholic Schools administrators fired amid teacher sexual conduct case

    Two top administrators at a Catholic school in Austin have been fired after a high school teacher was charged with having sex with a minor student. The Diocese of Winona, which includes Austin, says Pacelli Catholic Schools President Jim Hamburge and Principal Mary Holtorf were fired after being put on leave last week.

    The Diocese had said the administrators' leave didn't have to do with the charges against the 28-year-old. Diocese spokesman Joel Hennessy said Thursday the church body is no longer distancing the terminations from the case.​

    So we don't yet know exactly why the administrators were sacked, but it does now appear to be related to the Mary Gilles sex abuse case.

    A week after being placed on leave, two administrators with Pacelli Catholic Schools in Austin have been terminated. Jim Hamburge, President of Pacelli Catholic Schools and Mary Holtorf, a principal at the elementary school, were both placed on administrative leave last week ... When the administrators were placed on leave last week the Diocese of Winona did say it was not related to a criminal sexual conduct case involving a Pacelli math teacher and 17-year-old male student. However, when asked Wednesday after the firings were made public, the Diocese of Winona declined to comment.

    Pacelli Administrators Fired

    A week after being placed on leave, two top administrators with Pacelli Catholic Schools in Austin have been fired. The Diocese of Winona confirms to ABC 6 Pacelli President James Hamburge and Elementary Principal Mary Holtorf were terminated for personnel reasons. The Diocese wouldn't comment further on the circumstances surrounding the firings.

    A former Pacelli Catholic Schools teacher pleaded not guilty Monday to allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old student. Mary Gilles, 28, faces six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct after she was accused of sleeping with one of her students several times in 2014 ... Gilles’s next court hearing will take place April 10. Her bail was previously set at $60,000 and she posted bond on Oct. 9.
