    Off-duty SPD officer charged with attempted second-degree murder


    A Shreveport police patrol officer is behind bars following a shooting early Wednesday morning. Darius Jarod Morris, 27, of Shreveport, faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder. He was not on duty at the time of the shooting. Officers were called just before 5 a.m. to the 9100 block of Bushnell Lane. Upon arrival, they found 27-year-old Reginald Jones with a gunshot wound to his leg. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Following an investigation, police were able to identify Morris as the alleged gunman. Detectives learned that Jones and Morris were arguing and that led to the shooting. Jones was ...

    I am extremely disappointed in the senseless actions of this officer. As public servants, we are sworn to serve and protect; and this violates the oath that we all take when donning the badge. We work very hard as a department to reduce gun violence in our city; and Officer Morris’ actions will not be tolerated.
