    Teachers union: Campaign violation deserves warning only

    Livonia resident Loyd Romick filed a complaint with the Michigan Secretary of State alleging the district and union violated the law by sending campaign-related messages to LPS email addresses. Specifically, the complaint against LPS says an email supporting certain LPS school board candidates for the November election was sent to LPS addresses. In Michigan, it is a misdemeanor for a public body, or an individual acting on its behalf, to use or authorize the use of computer hardware or software, or other public resources, to make a campaign contribution or expenditure.
