Conference set for ex-teacher accused of student liaisons

A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for Aug. 1 in the case of a former Wyoming Valley West English teacher accused of unlawful contact with minors. Lauren Harrington-Cooper 31, of Winola Avenue, Kingston, was initially arrested by Plymouth police and Luzerne County detectives on Dec. 18 in connection with an alleged encounter with an 18-year-old student. While free on $25,000 unsecured bail, she was arrested twice in January by county detectives and police in Plymouth and Kingston when other male students claimed they had sexual encounters with her. Teacher license suspended for Harrington-Cooper

The state Department of Education suspended the teaching license of Lauren Harrington-Cooper, the former Wyoming Valley West English Teacher accused of sexual misconduct with students. The state posted notice online this week that the license was suspended Aug. 20 due to the charges.

Ex-Teacher Pleads Guilty, Sentenced for Sex Crimes against Students

32-year-old Lauren Harrington-Cooper had no answers for the media after pleading guilty, Thursday, to two counts of sexual contact with students and two counts of corruption of minors. The former English teacher at Wyoming Valley West High School headed off trial with the plea and headed straight to Luzerne County Prison.
