Letter to parents: April 12, 2013Dear Parents and Guardians,I am writing today to let you know about a change in our teaching staff and leadership in several programs. Social studies teacher and assistant track coach Kate Snyder has been reassigned by the school system and will be away from our school indefinitely.A substitute teacher is currently in place for Ms. Snyder ’s academic classes, and we will continue to consult with the Office of Investigations and other school system administrators as to whether we need to find a long-term replacement for Ms. Snyder. In addition, Ms. Snyder has also been relieved of her duties as assistant track coach, Student Government Association advisor, and senior class advisor while this investigation is under way. We will make the necessary adjustments to ensure that those groups continue their activities in Ms. Snyder’s absence.I am very aware that in matters such as this, it is easy for any number of rumors to begin swirling. I urge you as parents to talk with your child and do everything you can to minimize those rumors. To do anything contrary to that would not be in the best interests of our students.Because this is a personnel matter, neither I nor anyone in our school system can discuss specifics of this case. The school system, not our school, will be handling the investigation from this point forward. If you have questions that you think can be answered, please direct them to the Public Information Office at410-222-5312.Sincerely,James ToddPrincipalJT/bm
