According to MPD statements it was students who reported this to their other teachers. The affidavit obtained by The MRT states that some children had bruises. That document goes on to say the substitute cut their hair, called them names, hit them and improperly touched the female students. Investigators say, Melendez denies these charges and allegedly claims the children liked to hug him because of his accent. Two of the girls in the classroom were interviewed before law enforcement issued the warrant for an arrest.
