Married John Grindell, who had been described in court as a respected musician, broadcaster and teacher, had even set up Twitter and YouTube accounts in which he posted details about the case, a court heard yesterday. Grindell, 47, of Pettit Close, Cefnybedd, between Mold and Wrexham, had also expressed his desire to maintain a relationship and counted down the days to the girl’s 16th birthday, prosecutor Owen Edwards told Caernarfon Crown Court. Grindell pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a girl of 14 last August. He denied trying to pervert the course of justice and the prosecution asked for that count to lie on file. He had originally been accused of rape but he had denied the charge and it was dropped.
