Former Northland deputy principal James Parker has been handed an indefinite prison sentence for sexually abusing the boys he taught, described by a judge as the "most appalling" breach of trust. Parker, 38, who taught at Pamapuria School in Kaitaia for about 12 years, was sentenced to preventive detention at the High Court in Whangarei after admitting 74 charges of sexually abuse.​
