    OHS teacher charged with having sex with student

    Former Oxford High School physics teacher James Reidy has been arrested and charged with sexual battery by a person having authority over the victim. Reidy and his attorney, Tony Farese, appeared at the Lafayette County Circuit Court on Monday afternoon for a scheduled probable cause hearing. However, Reidy, through his attorney, waived his right to the hearing. Circuit Court Judge Andrew Howorth read over the criminal affidavit supplied by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and issued the warrant for Reidy’s arrest and set his bond for $25,000. Reidy was to report to the Lafayette County Detention Center after the hearing. ...

    Oxford High School former physics teacher, James Reidy was charged with having a sexual relationship with one of his students for over a year.     OHS Teacher Charged With Sexual Battery After Alleged Relationship With Student

    Last week, a report regarding misconduct by a teacher at Oxford High School surfaced. Today, James Reidy, a physics teacher at OHS was charged with sexual battery by a person having authority over the victim. Reidy has been fired from his position following the charges. Lafayette County Sheriff Chief Investigator Alan Wilburn told the Oxford Eagle that OPD had received a call to the Department of Human Services hotline that provided a tip that there was an inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher.     A high school teacher in Mississippi who authorities say had a sexual relationship with a student for over a year has been arrested.     Charges were filed Monday against former Oxford High School teacher James Reidy after he was investigated under the suspicion of having a sexual relationship with one of his students.     Former OHS teacher indicted on two charges of sexual battery; grand jury hands down indictments

    Former Oxford High School physics teacher James Reidy has been indicted on two charges of sexual battery by a person having authority over the victim.     Continuances filed in cases against two local former teachers

    The trials for two local former teachers accused of sex crimes involving former students in unrelated cases have been continued again at the request of their attorney. On Jan. 6, a circuit court judge signed an order of continuance for former Lafayette County math teacher Molly Wray and former Oxford physics teacher James Reidy until the next court term which is in April. Both Wray and Reidy are represented by local attorney Tony Farese.


    James Reidy:

    Reidy, 55, was indicted in 2018 on two charges of sexual battery by a person having authority over the victim after local law enforcement was told Reidy was allegedly having sex with one of his students. Since then, Reidy has been out on a $25,000 and been granted seven continuances. According to the indictment, Reidy allegedly had sex with his then 16-year-old student in the fall of 2016 and then again in the fall of 2017. The offenses reportedly occurred in Lafayette County. If convicted of both charges, Reidy could face a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. Reidy ...


    Molly Wray:

    Wray, 27, was indicted on Sept. 5, 2018, by a Lafayette County grand jury for allegedly enticing a 17-year-old male, an LHS student, to meet for sexual purposes in November 2017. Wray was arrested in June 2018 after the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department received a report from the Lafayette County School District that Wray had allegedly engaged in improper conduct with a male student. A math teacher, Wray resigned after the allegations were made against her. She has been out on a $10,000 bond and has received six continuances since being indicted.     Court Dates for Local Teachers Accused of Sex Crimes Continued

    The trials for two local former teachers accused of sex crimes involving former students in unrelated cases have been continued – again.     After eight attempts and three years to try two Mississippi teachers accused of sex crimes involving students, the cases are far from a verdict. Last Monday, the Lafayette County Circuit Court approved the request for a continuance in the cases of former Lafayette County School District teacher Molly Wray and former Oxford School District teacher James Reidy.
