    Lake sheriff indictment likely won’t be resolved before May primary; court date pushed to June


    It’s likely Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez will head into the May primary under an indictment for allegedly resisting law enforcement and reckless driving. In January, Martinez’s attorney, Paul Stracci, asked for a trial date as early as possible because Martinez is on the primary ballot. A trial date of April 11 was set at the time. On Monday, Stracci requested to push back the trial date because his team is “not done conducting basic discovery,” and they are waiting on subpoena responses. “I don’t think it’s humanly possible,” Stracci said, of being prepared for April 11.
