    Briefs: Arrest for ex-Gibson police chief


    Former City of Gibson Police Chief Taylor Atkins was arrested Monday for failure to render a title. Atkins, 31, was booked into the Gibson County Correctional Complex and released on $5,000 bond, according to jail records. Atkins was dismissed from his position in December. He filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Jackson in mid-July suing the town, its mayor and six members of the Gibson Board of Aldermen. According to court documents, he alleged that those individuals violated his First Amendment rights by firing him. Billy Wayne Alexander, 56, was also charged with failure to render a title. ...
