    Polk detective accused of falsifying documents, forgery


    A detective resigned after he was accused of falsifying two waivers of prosecution and forgery, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said the investigation into Polk County Detective Dennis Jones Jr., 31, found that in May 2019 he wrote in official documents that the parents of two juveniles who were involved in a relationship signed waivers of prosecution even though he'd never gone to the parents' homes for them to sign the waivers.     Sheriff's Office arrests Polk detective, says he falsified reports

    A former Polk County Sheriff’s Office detective was arrested this week on charges accusing him of falsifying official records. Dennis Jones Jr., 31, resigned his post as a detective immediately upon his arrest Tuesday. Jones, who was hired as a sheriff’s deputy in July 2013 and became a detective in October 2017, is charged with two counts of falsifying official records, one count of forgery and one count of uttering a false instrument, according to a PCSO media release Wednesday.     Polk County detective quits, charged with forging records

    A detective for a Florida sheriff’s office has resigned following his arrest on charges of forgery and falsifying public records. Polk County Sheriff’s officials said in a news release that 31-year-old Dennis Jones Jr. didn’t explain himself when he was arrested Tuesday.
