The girl's parents became suspicious, and in June 2007 notified officials at West Morris Central, where their daughter was in the music program, according to the court documents. David Scheck, who already forfeited his teaching license and has agreed to never seek public employment in the state again, was a 24-year-old instructor and his victim was a 15-year-old student. He pleaded guilty in May to official misconduct and criminal sexual contact with the girl in 2007, a long ago period of time that the victim in court alluded to as a time she and her family were "held captive" by Scheck's deeds and the criminal justice system.
