    Johns should pay higher prostitution fines, police official and others say

    To Jennifer Knight, acting deputy chief of the Columbus Division of Police, that’s a discrepancy that must be addressed if the city is going to tackle the prostitution issue. All too often, Knight said, offenders walk out of Franklin County Municipal Court with an average fine of $72 for soliciting a prostitute — about half of the tab for a speeding ticket and about double that for a parking meter ticket. “A $72 fine has zero impact.
