    CORONA: Teacher's arrest pits privacy against safety

    The case highlights the delicate line school officials must walk in weighing a teacher’s privacy rights versus the need to keep students safe. State education laws give them leeway to decide if they’ll release the name in such cases.

    “There’s always a balancing act that involves the public’s right to know on one hand and state laws pertaining to personnel issues and public employees on the other hand,” said Jim Bueermann, former Redlands police chief and president of a Washington D.C. police research organization.
