The case involves former Oak Ridge High School teacher, Brian Petersen, who police accused of online solicitation of a minor. Brian, who was 39 years old, was a member of the LGBTQ+ community. After an interaction on the app Grindr in July and August 2019, Conroe police arrested Petersen. "The Conroe Police Department knew what they were doing was wrong," said Douglas Petersen, Brian's father. "And we are doing it so we can clear his name of any criminal activity." Petersen ...

Family of former teacher sues Conroe Police Department after claiming arrest ‘destroyed his career and life’

The family of a man who committed suicide after they say he was unjustly arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor is now suing the Conroe Police Department. Brian Petersen, 39, took his life a few days after being released from the Montgomery County Jail in August 2019. In a five-page suicide note, released by family attorney Randall Kallinen, Petersen, a Conroe ISD teacher, defended himself and said the accusations would ruin his career and his life. “I am deeply angry at law enforcement as they destroyed me and gave me no other solutions,” Petersen wrote. “This is ...

On July 31, 2019, Brian Petersen, a 39-year-old school teacher in Texas, went on the gay dating app Grindr and struck up a conversation with a man whose profile name was “Fresh Meat.” He asked how the man’s week was going and if he was “looking for something tonight,” according to a transcript of the chat obtained by The Daily Beast. “You into younger boys,” the man replied, apparently posing the question. When Petersen asked for the man’s age, he said “under 18.” Petersen suggested there was “wriggle room”: In Texas, the age of consent is 17. But after repeated ...
