    SoCal High School Teacher Accused in Sex Assault of Special Needs Student

    A Southern California substitute high school teacher is facing felony charges over accusations he sexually assaulted a special needs student inside a classroom and car, authorities said Wednesday. The 17-year-old student at Highland High School in Palmdale told school officials that Aaron Alvidrez, 28, assaulted him several times last month, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

    "Evidently, the teacher and the victim engaged in some chatter, some talk via cell phone originally," LASD Sgt. Brian Hudson said. "There was an exchange where the teacher did send inappropriate photos of himself to the student via cellphone and it progressed from there."

    Aaron Alvidrez, 28, was arrested Tuesday after one of his male students at Highland High School came forward with the allegations, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department ... Alvidrez, who was arrested at his home in Lancaster, was charged with seven felony counts, including committing sodomy on a minor, oral copulation on a minor, and meeting a minor for the purpose of committing a lewd act, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. He is being held in lieu of $325,000 bail.

    Lancaster teacher arrested for sexual abuse of special-needs student

    The investigation began Monday when the male victim told school officials that [Aaron] Alvidrez had sexually assaulted him several times in September. The alleged incidents happened inside a classroom at Highland High School and inside Alvidrez's vehicle. The victim was enrolled in a special needs program at the school, sheriff's officials said. Alvidrez, a long-term substitute teacher at Highland High School, was charged with multiple counts of committing sodomy on a minor, oral copulation on a minor and meeting a minor for the purpose of committing a lewd act. His arraignment hearing was postponed to Nov. 18.

    SUSPECT: Aaron Alvidrez, Male, 28 years old

    VICTIM: Male, 17 years old

    UNIT: LASD Special Victims Bureau North Office

    NARRATIVE:

    On Monday, October 20, 2014, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau began investigating an allegation of child molestation between a teacher and a student at Highland High School. The student had disclosed to school officials that a teacher at the school had sexually assaulted him on several occasions during the month of September. The assaults took place inside a classroom at Highland High School and inside the teacher’s vehicle. Upon learning of the student’s allegations, school officials immediately contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

    The investigation was presented to the District Attorney’s office on Tuesday, October 21st, 2014. Seven felony counts were filed against the suspect, including multiple counts of Committing Sodomy on a Minor, Oral Copulation on a Minor, and Meeting a Minor for the Purpose of Committing a Lewd Act. The suspect, Aaron Alvidrez, was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau Detectives during the afternoon on Tuesday, October 21, at a residence in Lancaster. He is currently in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and being held in lieu of $325,000 dollars bail.

    The suspect was employed as a long-term substitute teacher at Highland High School. The victim in this case was enrolled in a special needs program at the school.

    A 28-year-old teacher pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he sexually molested a 17-year-old student enrolled in a special needs program at a high school in Palmdale. Aaron Alvidrez, a long-term substitute teacher at Highland High School, allegedly assaulted the boy in a classroom and in his vehicle in September and October, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Aaron Joseph Alvidrez, 28, of Lancaster, is charged with seven felonies: three counts of sodomy of a person under 18, two counts of oral copulation of a person under 18 and one count each of distributing or showing pornography to a minor and meeting a minor for a lewd purpose. The crimes allegedly occurred in September and October in a school classroom and inside Alvidrez’s vehicle, according to Deputy District Attorney Seth Carmack.
